Kirsty and John’s Chic Homestead Wedding

Kirsty and John’s Chic Homestead Wedding
Kirsty & John

Today’s wedding is pure New Zealand chic. I first fell for the incredible lace on the bride’s beautiful dress, then the overwhelming tender moments between the couple and then? Then the bright dash of orange got me. What a beautiful wedding to share with you today!

Kirsty retells their story for us. “John and I were engaged on 7th November 2010, between that date and our wedding we purchased our first home and welcomed our darling daughter Phoebe. Our wedding planning only became a focus as the day drew near and didn’t really progress until John (groom) came on board. I had set the date, the first day of spring, but after that I had been very indecisive.”

Kirsty and John’s wedding was captured by A Couple Of Night Owls. I love the fresh, but overwhelmingly romantic style of their photography.

The orange blooms were infused throughout the day. Kirsty says “It was through Sue (Abbeville Estate) that we found Susan of Orlando Flowers , our lovely florist. We wanted our wedding to be a relaxed affair and that was translated perfectly to our flowers. Susan was a professional in every respect, tailoring designs to our budget, providing samples of flowers and personally delivered the wedding flowers on the day.”

The girls and I were groomed and beautified at home by Natasha Radonich (hair) and Krisztina Moricz (make up). Not only did Natasha and Krisztina do a stunning job, they were so relaxed and easy to be around it felt like we had two extra friends helping us get ready.” Kirsty wore a gown by Jane Yeh “It was perfect and I felt like myself (but my very best self)” with mismatched orange bridesmaids gowns by Rosemary Smith.

Kirsty and John chose a homestead for their wedding day. Kirsty explaining “We selected our perfect venue, Abbeville Estate, site unseen and were not disappointed. Abbeville ticked all the boxes allowing both the ceremony and reception to take place in one location. Sue Flieschl, Julia and their team were perfect! Nothing was a problem and they exceeded every expectation even bringing out mohair rugs for our guests when the weather turned during the cocktail hour in the barn. We are still receiving compliments regarding the quality of food and service provided by the Great Catering Company. We are very proud to be Abbeville Estate’s first wedding.”

Of their photographers, Kirsty says ” Our brilliant photographers were Danelle and Hook of A Couple of Night Owls. We are very grateful to Julia of Studio Home (blog about NZ and Oz creative talent) for suggesting them. Danelle and Hook captured the day perfectly. We felt perfectly at ease in their company and “clicking”. Their commitment to the project was incredible, starting work at 9am and not finishing until long after dark. We are thrilled with the results and look forward to them capturing our family in the future.”

Cockle Bay Bake Shop crafted the wedding cake. “Our wedding cake was a two tier gluten free cake (one tier of flourless chocolate and a second of orange almond) was made by Susannah of the Cockle Bay Bake Shop (found via a friends “like” on Facebook). The design of the cake topper was taken from our amazing invitations, designed by Matt Dickinson and his team at the agency True“.

Thank you for sharing your day with us Kirsty and John! Thank you to A Couple Of Night Owls. for sharing today’s images!
