Hairstyles for Medium Length Hair is Cause for Confusion
Hairstylists everywhere tune in carefully to a customer who says she wants a medium length haircut. How long is that? When I was in cosmetology school we believed a medium length hair cut was below the ears but didn’t touch the shoulders. Any haircut that was at the ear lobes or shorter was considered “short,” and a haircut that touched the shoulders was considered “long.” Those cuts that end between the earlobes and the shoulder was considered “medium.” One look at any medium length hair board on Pinterest reveals just how much confusion there is out there. That being said, here are some of my favorite hairstyles for medium length hair.
The midi bob is always classy, easy to maintain and highly versatile.
While buns have largely been reserved for more formal events, pulling the hair back into a low bun is also great for a casual, romantic evening out. Pin the bun in the middle or on either side for an modern look, and allow a few strands to frame the face for a look of casual sophistication.
Face framing fringe is romantic, flirty and flattering. Loose, effortless curls complete the look.
Medium length waves give the hair a fuller appearance, creating soft, feminine styles that are perfect for casual days… or any day!
Shoulder skimming locks that fade from dark to light…. sexy, sexy! Ombre, ombre!
Choppy layers and effortless styling give this mid-length shag just the right amount of edginess.
Of course, braids are still wildly popular. This year, opt for one that’s styled to the side and with just enough “messy” to give you a flirty, feminine, effortless vibe.
Sleek medium length locks that are ultra-straight and ultra-shinny are feminine, flattering, and definitely on trend.
