When I heard the inspiration behind these Colorado nuptials - The Secret Garden meets Downton Abbey - I knew something pretty fabulous was about to unfold. And let me tell you, the galley from Brumley And Wells? It delivers, BIG time. Thanks to the talents of Cori Cook and Intricate Icings it's a whole day kissed by pretty all while anchored in love. Enjoy!
From the Mother of the Bride... Katie and Daniel’s wedding at Crooked Willow Farm in Larkspur, Colorado was an evening where The Secret Garden met Downton Abbey – an elegant, romantic garden party.
The center aisle was marked with vintage garden gates graced with the couples custom monogram and surrounded by bay leaf and garden rose wreaths. The ceremony was held under an arbor draped in climbing roses and backed by an antique iron garden fence and the stunning foothills of Colorado.
Katie’s bouquet was comprised of eighteen white roses in memory of her dear cousin, Taylor, with stems wrapped in lace from her mother’s wedding dress. She chose a simple pearl colored ball gown by Allure Couture, then added ivory lace to the hem and bodice and a bow to the low back for a completely custom creation.
The six bridesmaids wore full length blush colored gowns by Amsale and carried gorgeous bouquets of dahlias, garden roses, poppies and draping greens. Each bouquet featured a ribbon treatment that included the bride’s favorite, Tiffany blue velvet.
The live trees adorning the reception hall were from Katie’s grandparents tree farm in northern Missouri and brought the garden party inside for the evening. Guests were seated at tables featuring Tiffany blue striped and ivory embroidered linens, vintage salt and pepper shakers, gold silverware and candle light. These tables were placed to surround the head table creating an intimate dinner party feel.
The head table featured a family collection of etched crystal, a dramatic eight foot long centerpiece and three crystal chandeliers hung low over the table to provide warm lighting. During dinner, the children were entertained with activity books created by Katie’s aunt that included coloring pages made from photos of Katie and Daniel, a custom word search and a mad lib of the story of how Katie and Daniel met.
As a wedding gift to the couple, the bride’s parents contracted artist, Agnes Russo, to fly in and paint a scene that captured the couple’s first dance. Guests were enthralled as they watched the painting come to life throughout the evening. Now the gorgeous, one-of-a-kind piece hangs over Katie and Daniel’s mantle in their Waco, Texas home.
